Two last ones for the evening (or early morning)
The Isles scored 2 goals in a 42 second span tonight; that wasn't all that unusual but the fact that it spanned two periods certainly was.
I believe that it's only the 2nd time in Isles history that they have scored in the final 30 seconds of one period and then the first 30 seconds seconds of the next.
On 2/3/1983 Brent Sutter beat Chico Resch at 19:53 of the 2nd period and then John Tonelli beat Lindsey Middlebrook at 22 seconds of the third as the Isles walloped New Jersey 7-2 at Brendan Byrne (not Burke) Arena. That also make Juuse Soros the first goalie to ever allow goals in the final 30 seconds of one period and the first 30 seconds of the next to the Islanders.
NHL PR also noted that Tavares is the 3rd player in Isles history to record hat tricks twice in a period of 3 games or less.
Bossy did it 3 times (once in the 78-79 season and twice in the 50 in 50 1980-81 campaign); Ziggy Palffy did it in consecutive games in March 1996.
