Damon Severson scored two goals in a 1:26 span of the second period to break a 1-1 tie as the New Jersey Devils defeated the Islanders 4-1 before a crowd of 12,695 at Barclays Center.
The loss, which was the Isles' first-ever in Brooklyn to the Devils, dropped the Isles out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Season Series Stats

This was only the second regulation loss to New Jersey in the last 16 meetings (13-2-1) and was the Isles' first home loss after eight straight wins.
On the Farm
Bridgeport is 18-14-4-2 on the season following a 3-0 loss in Charlotte on Tuesday. It was the first time that the Sound Tigers have been shutout this season. The teams will meet again on Wednesday night.
Tanner Fritz leads Bridgeport with 37 points (10-27-37); Rookie Scott Eansor leads the team in goals with 13. Christopher Gibson is 14-8-2 in the nets with 2 shutouts.
The Sound Tigers will return home to host Providence on Saturday and Toronto on Sunday.

The Isles conclude the home stand as they play their fourth game in six days as they face the Boston Bruins in the final meeting of the teams this season.
Boston has won each of the first two meetings (3-1 in Boston on December 9th; 5-1 in Brooklyn on January 2nd).
The Bruins are the only Eastern Conference team to have won each of their games at Barclays Center (4-0-0).
