Back to hockey!

A couple of notes to follow-up from yesterday's Skinny:

The Isles have allowed at least 30 shots in 19 straight games.  I can now confirm that this is indeed an all-time club record.  The previous record of 13 was set in November/December 1989 (that team made the playoffs)

The 99 shots that the Islanders have allowed in the last two games is the 2nd highest total in club history (101 late in 2007-08 season) while  the 139 shots that the Isles have allowed in the last three games is the 3rd highest total in club history (142 in Nov 1972, 141 in January 2018)

Elias noted that the Isles are now 15-1-4 in their last 20 games in which their goalie makes 40 saves -- the one regulation loss in that stretch was on Wednesday in Toronto.

The Isles enter play on Monday with a chance to move into the top Wild Card spot with a win (of any type); getting the game to overtime will enable the Isles to pass Philadelphia for the second wild card spot.
