The Skinny on All Those Power Play Goals (and a Bertuzzi tie-in to boot)

The Isles scored their four power play goals in a span of 3:37; the first three of those goals came just 2:05 apart.  Best I can tell it's the FIRST TIME IN ISLANDER HISTORY THAT THEY HAVE SCORED THREE GOALS ON A MAJOR POWER PLAY, let alone four.

While they are the fastest four PP goals the Isles ever scored, it's not close to the fastest three.

New York Islanders 3 @ Phoenix Coyotes 3

First Period
1 - NY Islanders : King 11 (B Berard, Smolinski) (power play) 7:34
2 - NY Islanders : Palffy 13 (Smolinski, B Berard) (power play) 7:58
3 - NY Islanders : B Berard 1 (Green, King) (power play) 8:21

(3 PP goals in 47 seconds)

These goals didn't come on a major -- rather they were on a series of minor penalties 1:21 apart.  The first minor came when Keith Tkachuk instigated a fight with the Isles' Derek Armstrong.  Who got thrown out of the game on that play?  Todd Bertuzzi (Tyler's uncle), for being the 3rd man in.

PHO - Tkachuk (instigator, fighting major, misconduct) 5:58 ; NYI - Armstrong (fighting major) 5:58 ; NYI - T Bertuzzi (game misconduct) 5:58 ; PHO - Finley (high sticking) 7:19 ; PHO - Khabibulin (high sticking) 7:19 ;
