Minor Club Record Set in Isles Loss in Overtime

The two goals in the final minute came 5.4 seconds apart.   Since the NHL ignores 10th's in their record books, it goes in as two goals in five seconds.

While the Isles have scored two goals in 3 seconds  (Lee & Kulemin vs PIT in Nov 2016 - latter into empty net) and have allowed the opponent to score two goals in 5 seconds twice  (King and Patrick for NYR in 1991 - latter into empty net, Nathan Gerbe-twice for Buffalo in 2011), this is the first time the Isles and their opponents have ever scored in a 5 second span.

The previous record for goals by both teams was 6 seconds:
Bob Bourne (16:34), Wayne Gretzky (16:40)  10/18/80 vs Edmonton
Daniel Carcillo (14:25), Cal Clutterbuck (14:31) 12/13/14 vs Chicago

Forever1940 is the nom de plume of Eric Hornick, statistician on Islander home telecasts since January 21, 1982. Visit my blog: NYISkinny.com and follow me on Twitter @ehornick
