The Isles named Anders Lee their 15th Captain today. All-time, the Isles are 6-7-1 in their first game under a new captain, including 4-6-1 when the new captain starts a season.
Lee is only the seventh Islander captain to be drafted by the team. Clark Gillies, Denis Potvin, Brent Sutter, Patrick Flatley, Bryan McCabe and John Tavares are the others, and all but Tavares served in succession from 1977-1998.
Lee also becomes the 3rd American to Captain the squad, joining Bill Guerin and Doug Weight (who did so in succession).
Lee begins the season with 124 goals, tied with Josh Bailey for the team lead among active players.
