The Skinny
The Isles improve to 11-0-1 when leading after two periods … Derick Brassard had his first 3-point game as an Islander, earning a point in each period; it's the 16th time in his career he has had at least three points in a game.… The Isles scored twice on the power play, ending a 1-16 drought. It's the first time in nearly a year (11-15-18 at Barclays vs. the Rangers) that the Isles scored twice with the extra man in a home game; these were also the first two power play goals the Isles scored at home during their 13-game point streak (which includes nine home games)… Mathew Barzal scored his team-leading 8th goal and later added an assist for his team-leading 16th point as he recorded his 39th multi-point game; the 39 multi-point games are the most by an Islander over the last 2+ seasons… Anthony Beauvillier recorded his 7th career multi-goal game…Josh Bailey played his 814th game, tying Bob Bourne for 5th on the all-time Isles list. He also became the 11th Islander to record 300 assists…Johnny Boychuk had eight hits and four blocks; he is the first Isle to reach those totals in the same game since Matt Martin (4/13/13 vs NYR; also 8 and 4)) and the first defender to do so since Brendan Witt (12/6/08 vs. Atlanta; 8 and 5)….Anthony Beauvillier, who once was the youngest Islander to dress, recorded his 7th career 2-goal game…John Tavares had a goal and an assist to give him 101 career points with the Leafs…Auston Matthews earns a secondary assist on the final goal to extend his point streak to five…The Isles are 6-1-1 in games decided by a single goal while Toronto is 3-4-4.
