The Skinny on February 13, 1982 - the last time the Isles won 11 straight games

It was a night to remember for Bryan Trottier the last time the Isles extended a winning streak to 11 games.

Since "It Happened at the Coliseum" I told the story in detail back in 2015:

It Happened at the Coliseum … on FEBRUARY 13th
Bryan Trottier rewrote the Islander record book as he scored five goals as the Isles pounded the Flyers 8-2 at the Coliseum for the Isles' 11th straight win.

Brent Sutter gave the Islanders a 1-0 lead just 66 seconds into play.  From there, it was Trottier's night as he scored a power play goal to give the Isles a 2-0 lead after 1 period.  There were six goals scored in the second period and all four Islander goals were scored by Trottier.

Hector Marini and Clark Gillies each had a goal and an assist in the third period as the Isles coasted to a win.

It was the second five-goal game of Trottier's career; no Islander has done so since.  Trottier also had a club-record four goals in the second period and a club record four power play goals; both tied NHL records that still stand today.

Mike Bossy assisted on all five Trottier tallies as Bryan became the first Islander to ever score five consecutive team goals (a record later tied by Mariusz Czerkawski and John Tavares).

"My teammates worked so hard to get me those shots", Trottier told Newsday's Pat Calabria. "A lot of times I had an open net staring me right in the face.  If I'd missed those shots, I would have banged my head against the wall."

It was the Isles' 10th straight home win, tying another club record (they would break the record three nights later).
