The Skinny
This was the third-longest game in Isles history (Quine 36:00, LaFontaine 68:47) and the longest-ever won by the opponent … Nick Leddy played his 41st playoff game as an Islander without being penalized, extending his own club record...The Isles finished with 53 shots; it's the most shots that they have had in a playoff game since April 20, 1993 vs. Washington (club record 61). …The Isles have been shorthanded only 11 times in the series; they have killed all 11 Flyer power plays……Carter Hart is the fifth active goalie to win multiple games to stave off elimination before his 23rd birthday; Semyon Varlamov did that four times with Washington in 2009, while Matt Murray (PIT) and Braden Holtby (WAS) each did so twice…After going 22 playoff games without an assist, Cal Clutterbuck had a helper for the second straight game. Matt Martin scored that goal- it was his 4th of this year's playoffs after having scored only one previously… The Isles have outscored the Flyers 10-3 in the third period after outscoring the Caps 7-1 in the third period; the Isles have allowed only two third period goals in their ten wins this post-season and lead the NHL with 21 third period goals in this year's playoffs…The Isles now have 10 power play goals in the playoffs (most since they had 12 in 1984).

It's More Than Hockey
Oskar Lindblom played over 17 minutes for the Flyers in his first appearance since being diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma in December.

Overtime Facts
The Isles have lost three overtime games in a series (and in a playoff year) for the first time in their history.
The Isles lost an overtime game when a win would have clinched a series for the second straight game and only the third time in their history (April 29, 1978 – Game 7 vs. Toronto)
The Isles have lost consecutive games, both in OT, for the fourth time in their history (1985 vs Washington, 1993 vs. Montreal, 2016 vs. Tampa Bay
The Flyers are the 32nd team in NHL history to win three overtime games in a series; the 1951 Leafs (vs. Montreal) are the only team to record four overtime wins in a series.
The Isles fall to 7-4 in multiple overtime games, while the Flyers improve to 6-6.

Ones for the Record Books
Matt Martin set a club record (since 1998) for hits in a playoff game -12.  JG Pageau had 10 hits, giving the Isles two players with at least 10 hits for the first time in club history.
Matthew Barzal finished with nine shots, one shy of the club record set by Mike Bossy vs. Toronto in 1978 and equaled by Pierre Turgeon vs. Montreal in 1993.
Three Isles met or exceeded the previous club record for best shot attempt differential (5-on-5) in a playoff game: Barzal was +27, Jordan Eberle was +25 and Devon Toews was +22.  Toews matched the previous record, set by John Tavares in 2015 vs. Washington.  The record goes back to 2010.  (In all situations, Barzal was on for 52 Isles attempts while Eberle was on for 50.)
The Isles finished with a +22 shots differential (53-31); it was their biggest positive differential since April 5, 1984, when they outshot the Rangers 45-18, but lost 3-0 at the Coliseum.

A Special Summer
The Isles have won 10 games this summer. It is their most wins in a single post-season since the Dynasty Era:
1980 -15
1981 -15
1982 -15
1983 -15
1984 -12
2020 -10

Pageau, Pageau, JG Pageau
JG Pageau has 19 goals in 50 career Stanley Cup games. Among active players who have played 49 or fewer games, only Jake Guentzel and Nathan MacKinnon has scored more goals:

JG Pageau 19 goals in 50 games
Mark Stone 17 goals in 47 games
Mark Schiefele 16 goals in 28 games
Jamie Benn 16 goals in 47 games

Pageau's 7 playoff goals this summer are the 5th highest in a player's first playoff with the Isles:
Ray Ferraro 13 (1993)
Steve Thomas 9 (1993)
Patrick Flatley 9 (1984)
JP Parise 8 (1975)
JG Pageau 7 (2020)

Pageau Plus
JG Pageau was even and remains +11.

No Isle has finished a playoff year higher than +6 (Benoit Hogue in 1993) in the Post-Cup era. Denis Potvin (team-leading +20) was one of five Isles +16 or better in 1983.

Pageau is one of only six players in NHL +10 or better (Nathan McKinnon +13, Alec Martinez +12, Cole Makar +12, Victor Hedman +11, Mikko Rantanen +11))

Elite Eight Again!

Robin Lehner 123:29 (4/16-4/26/2019)
The Isles' team shutout record in post-season play is 182:50, set in April 1979 (all vs. Chicago).

1980 STANLEY CUP FINAL  Isles won series, and Stanley Cup  4-2
1985 Patrick Division Finals  Flyers won series 4-1
1987 Patrick Division Finals  Flyers won series 4-3

ROUND 2- GAME 7 – SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5th – 7:30pm
ISLANDERS VS.  PHILADELPHIA (AT TORONTO)
[NBC, 88.7 WRHU-FM, WRCN 103.9FM, ESPN-Radio; 30-minute pre-game and expanded post-game on MSG+]

They are arguably the two most special words in sports: Game 7.  The Isles and Flyers will meet one final time on Saturday.

It will be only the 9th Game 7 in Isles history (3-5).  This will technically be an Islander road game, so eight of the nine will have been on the road.  The Isles are 3-4 in road Game 7s and 0-1 at the Coliseum (Lanny McDonald).

The Isles have faced only four opponents in a game 7.  The eight previous game 7s are as follows:

26-Apr-75 @ Pittsburgh         QF 1975 1 0 W
13-May-75 @ Philadelphia SF 1975 1 4 L
29-Apr-78 Vs Toronto     QF 1978 1 2 L (OT)
18-Apr-87 @ Washington DSF 1987 3 2 W(4 OT)
02-May-87 @ Philadelphia DF 1987 1 5 L
14-May-93 @ Pittsburgh         DF 1993 4 3 W (OT)
30-Apr-02 @ Toronto CQF 2002 2 4 L
27-Apr-15 @ Washington 1st 2015 1 2 L

This will be the first game seven in a series the Isles led 3-1 and only the second in a series the Isles led 3-2, having gone 10-1 in previous game 6 clinching opportunities.

The Isles are 26-21 when facing elimination, with their last win coming in Game 6 vs. Washington in 2015.

The Flyers are 9-7 all-time in Game 7s, including wins over the Islanders in both 1975 and 1987.

This will be the third game 7 ever contested in a neutral site; the first two will take place on Friday in Edmonton.

Anthony Beauvillier had the game-winning goal in the clinchers against both Florida and Washington, joining Mike Bossy (1981 and 1983) as the only Isle to do so twice in one year. Martin Gelinas (2004) and Ken Linseman (1984) and the only NHLers to ever do it in three series in one year.
