Sam Bennett scored in each period for his second career hat trick as the Florida Panthers built a 3-0 lead and defeated the Islanders 5-1 before a crowd of 12,936 at FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida.

Oliver Wahlstrom's third period power play goal was the Isles' only tally as New York falls to 0-2 for the first time since 2016-17.

On the Farm
Bridgeport is opening their season with three road games.  The Baby Islanders are 0-1-1 in the first two games, losing 2-1 in regulation in Hartford, and 2-1 in a shootout in Providence. Ken Appleby made 42 saves in the shootout loss.

Bridgeport plays Sunday afternoon in Springfield.

Season Series Stats

Game 3 of this 13-game road trip will be on Tuesday as the Isles will provide the opposition for the Chicago Blackhawks in their home opener.  Neither team has a win on the young season as the Hawks fell to 0-2-1 with a 5-2 loss in Pittsburgh on Saturday.

This will be the first meeting of the teams since December 27, 2019 – Robin Lehner, then with Chicago, defeated the Isles 5-2 that night. 

This game will be televised exclusively by ESPN.
