Kasperi Kapanen scored the game's only goal and Tristan Jarry made 25 saves for his third shutout in eight days as the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Islanders 1-0 before a sellout crowd of 17,255 at UBS Arena.
The Isles have lost eight straight, all in regulation, to fall five games under NHL-.500 for the first time since January 16, 2012 (16-21-6).

Bridgeport fell to 5-11-1-2 with a 3-2 loss to Providence on Friday. Collin Adams and Erik Brown each scored their first goals for the Baby Isles.
Bridgeport visits Lehigh Valley on Saturday and then doesn't play again until the following Saturday.

The Isles begin a two-game road trip with their first trip this season to Madison Square Garden.
This will be the second meeting of the teams this season, with the Ranges earning a 4-1 win on UBS ice on Thanksgiving Eve.
The teams played four times at MSG last season, and all four games ended in shutouts. The Isles won three of them, as Semyon Varlamov became the first goalie to ever blank the Rangers three times in one season at The Garden.
