Quinton Byfield scored his first NHL goal and Andreas Athanasiou scored with under six seconds remaining in the second period as the Los Angeles Kings defeated the Isles 3-2 before another sellout crowd of 17,255 at UBS Arena.
Mathew Barzal and Casey Cizikas twice moved the Isles within one goal in the final 2:04 but Adrian Kempe's empty-netter, scored between the two Islander tallies, turned out to be the winner. The Isles are 7-3-0 in their last ten games and 10-5-1 in their last 16 games and once again fall to NHL-.500.
Drew Doughty played in his 1,000th NHL game (all with Los Angeles). He is the fifth player to appear in 1,000 King games.

The Skinny
