The Islanders exploded for four goals in a 10:04 span of the second period to erase a 1-0 St. Louis lead and Ilya Sorokin made it stand up as the Isles extended their winning streak to five straight games with a 5-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues before a crowd of 18,096 at Enterprise Center.
Kyle Palmieri scored fourteen seconds into the middle session to jumpstart the Islander rally as they improve to 7-4-0 on the season.
Ilya Sorokin made 32 saves, giving him 127 on 132 shots in his last four games.
The road trip concludes on Saturday afternoon in Detroit.

The Isles did not earn their seventh win of the season last season until December 11th (7-11-5)...Two Islanders earned milestones on Anders Lee's second period goal as Brock Nelson earned his 400th point and Anthony Beauvillier recorded his 100th assist…Mathew Barzal has seven assists in the last six game (0-7-7) … Brock Nelson scored for the fourth straight game (matching a career high) and earned his 400th point on Anders Lee's goal; Anthony Beauvillier earned his 100th assist on Lee's goal…The Isles have outscored their opponents 20-10 in the third period; the twenty goals are tied with Buffalo for the NHL lead…Five of those twenty goals have been empty-netters…Anders Lee now leads the Isles with six goals...The Isles have won five straight games for the first time since a nine-game stretch in March 2021.… The Blues have dropped six straight for the first time under Craig Berube and have been outscored 30-10 in that span… The Isles recorded their second four-goal period in the last three games (3rd pd vs Colorado); they scored four goals in a period only twice all last season.

Anders Lee recorded his second career Gordie Howe hat trick. Lee now has the last two Islander Gordie's, scoring into an empty net on December 12, 2019, in Florida
Scott Mayfield (November 7, 2017, vs. Colorado) was the last Islander defensemen with a Gordie Howe hat trick.
No Islander forward other than Lee has had a Gordie since Mike Comrie did so, on December 29, 2008, at Madison Square Garden.

The Islander defense have scored nine goals; they didn't score their ninth goal last season until January 18th. The Isles have two defensemen with three goals on the season; last season that did not happen until game 47 (February 24th in San Jose).

The Isles look to sweep the road trip as they face the Red Wings for the first time this season.
The Isles went 1-1-1 vs. Detroit last season, dropping two games in the Motor City in December (one in overtime), before defeating the Wings 5-2 at UBS Arena in March. Since their big comeback win vs. Detroit in 2018, the Isles are 8-2-1 vs. the Wings.
