Zach Parise and Anders Lee scored 2:28 apart, early in the third period and Kyle Palmieri and Lee added goals 1:40 apart later in the frame as the Isles rallied from a 1-0 deficit for 4-1 matinee victory over the Detroit Red Wings before a sellout crowd of 17,255 at UBS Arena.
Ilya Sorokin, playing in front of his father for the first time in the NHL, made 22 saves for the victory.
The Isles are 32-25-8 and host Buffalo on Tuesday before visiting Pittsburgh on Thursday. The Isles regained the 1st Wild Card spot with their afternoon victory; they end play Saturday one point ahead of Pittsburgh (who lost to Florida on Saturday night) and four points ahead of Buffalo, Ottawa, Florida and Washington.

On the Farm
Bridgeport improved to 24-21-7-1 on the season and 2-2-0-0 on their season-long six game home stand with a 7-1 victory over Providence on Thursday. Andy Andreoff scored twice, and Ruslan Iskhakov added three points as the Islanders scored five times in the third period to break open a close game.
Andreoff leads the team with 22 goals, while Chris Terry continues to lead in assists (34) and points (51). William Dufour has 19 goals, which is tied-3rd among AHL rookies while All-Star Ruslan Iskhakov is 3rd among AHL rookies with 29 assists and leads all rookies with 43 points (thru Thursday).
Bridgeport hosts Hartford on Saturday night and Springfield on Sunday afternoon.

The Isles look to go eight games over NHL-.500 for the first time this season when the welcome the Buffalo Sabres to UBS Arena for a key matchup in the Wild Card race.
Buffalo defeated Tampa Bay on Saturday to remain four points behind the Isles; the Sabres will host Edmonton on Monday before arriving on Long Island.
This is the middle game of the season series; Buffalo defeated the Isles 3-2 in overtime back on January 19th in Buffalo; the teams will also meet on March 25th at UBS.
This game will be streamed nationally by ESPN+; Mike Monaco, Cassie Campbell-Pascal and Dominic Moore will have the call.
