Johnny Brodzinski broke a 2-2 tie with 4:59 left in the middle period and the New York Rangers defeated the Islanders 5-2 before a sellout crowd of 18,006 at Madison Square Garden.
Bo Horvat scored both goals for the Islanders, who are now winless in their last four games (0-3-1). The Isles are 10-8-4 under Patrick Roy and 29-23-15 overall as they remain tied with Washington and three point behind Philadelphia for third place in the Metropolitan.
The Isles head back to UBS Arena to host Carolina in a nationally-streamed game on Tuesday.

Bridgeport is 20-33-6-1 on the season after a 4-2 loss in Belleville (Ontario) on Saturday. Garrett Pilon, the son of the former Islander, had two goals and an assist for Belleville.
The Baby Isles are off until Friday, when they visit Utica.
