Game 6
Detroit 1, Isles 0
Alex Lyon made 29 saves for this fourth career shutout and Patrick Kane converted Detroit's first shot fort the only goal as the Detroit Red Wings blanked the Isles 1-0 and snapped the New Yorkers' three-game point streak before a crowd of 12,739 at UBS Arena.

The Isles out-shot the Red Wings 29-11 but could not convert on three power plays as they were shut-out for the third time this season (0-2-1).

The Skinny
The Isles power play is 2-19 on the season (2-15 at home); they did manage to kill their first penalty on home ice this season after allowing goals the first three times they were short...Noah Dobson has 17 shots on goal over the last three games; four of his twelve attempts tonight were on goal…Liam Foudy played a team-low 7:52 in his Islander debut…The Isles took only one penalty for the second straight game; they have taken only 11 penalties through the first six games…The Isles have out-shot their opponent in all six games this season; they are the only team in the NHL to do so….It was Ilya Sorokin's first regulation loss in seven games, dating back to last season…The attendance was the lowest in UBS Arena history…This was the 26th time in club history that the Isles have lost 1-0 in regulation, but only the seventh time at home (twice at UBS).

First Times in a Long Time
Detroit defeated the Isles in New York in regulation for the first time since December 19, 2017; the Isles had gone 7-0-1 in the interim.
The Isles allowed only 11 shots; it was only the fourth time in club history that they have allowed 11 or fewer, joining:
3-Mar-77 @ Detroit (11)
16-Feb-08 Vs Atlanta (10)
8-Feb-15 @ Buffalo (10)

The Red Wings blanked the Isles in New York for the first time since Jimmy Howard did so on Black Friday in 2013.
The 11 shots match the fewest in Red Wings history (set March 3, 1977, vs. the Isles), and is only the second time since shots on goal became an official stat in 1959-60 that the Red Wings won a game with 12 shots or fewer (4/1/2004 in St. Louis -12 shots)

AND FINALLY…
Islander legend Butch Goring celebrated his 75th birthday today; he was honored with a cake and words from past teammates, and past and present colleagues, during MSGSN's pre-game coverage. Happy birthday Butch!
