Leon Draisaitl scored  his second goal of the game 3:53 into overtime to reach the 100-point mark as the Edmonton Oilers edged the Isles 2-1, before a crowd of 15,879 at UBS Arena.

Bo Horvat scored the only goal for the Isles, early in the third period, to earn the Isles a point. Ilya Sorokin made 33 saves, including 17 in the first period as he continues his strong play against the Oilers.

The Isles are 29-28-8 after their OT loss to the Stanley Cup runners-up; they host the Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers on Sunday.

The Skinny

The Isles fall to 4-7-1 in the last twelve games after suffering their first OT/SO loss since December 3rd in Montreal…The Isles have been outscored 80-64 in the third period and overtime, although they have outscored their opponents 27-23 in those periods over the last 22 games…The Isles have scored 128 goals and allowed 117 goals at 5-on-5 but have been outscored 76-45 in all other situations… The Isles have outscored the opposition 64-62 in the second period this season; they were outscored 107-83 in the second period a season ago… The Isles killed both Edmonton power plays… The Isles went 0-3 on the power play and are now 0-14 over the last three games; the Isles have been outscored 19-8 on the power play over the last 34 games… The Isles allowed the first goal for the 40th time, only Pittsburgh (41) has allowed more….Sorokin has now appeared in 49 games; if he plays two more, he will be first goalie to appear in at least 51 games four times as an Islander….The Isles played their 16th scoreless first period; only Nashville, Utah and New Jersey (all 17) have played more…Leon Draisaitl extended his point streak to a career-high 17 games, tying David Pasternak for the longest in the NHL this season; he reached 100 points for the 6th time…Draisaitl joins Connor McDavid as the only NHL players in the 2000s to have points in 39 games in a 41-game stretch; McDavid had points in 43 of 45 games and in 42 of 44 games, both during 2022-23…Draisaitl's goal was the latest in the overtime session in an Islander game this season; the Isles have not had a game go to the shootout since November 19th….McDavid earned an assist for the 10th straight game with his helper on the winner.

First Times in a Long Time

Leon Draisaitl scored the overtime winner in both games between the teams this season. He joins Alex Ovechkin (2008-09) and Adam Graves (1998-99) as the only players to score two overtime goals against the Isles in one season. Ovechkin (4) and Graves (5) both played at least twice as many games against the Isles in their 2-OT goal season. Draisaitl leads the NHL  this season with 10 game-winning goals and is tied for the lead (with Sebastian Aho) with 5 overtime goals.

Milestone Men

• Anders Lee has 498 points, one behind Derek King for 13th place in club history 

• Ilya Sorokin played his 241st game, tying Kelly Hrudey for 4th place among goalies in club history.

Both the GAA and save percentage are the best in Islander history for any goalie who has played at least six games. He is the 44th goalie to win multiple games for the Isles.

On the Farm   

Bridgeport is 13-39-4-3 after splitting games in Laval (5-2 win) on Wednesday and Belleville (6-1 loss) on Friday. 

Brian Pinho has a team-leading (and career-high) 22 goals, four ahead of Liam Foudy and Chris Terry. Terry's 39 assists lead the entire AHL while his 57 points are 2nd  in the AHL in points.

Bridgeport plays again in Belleville, Ontario on Saturday.

The Isles look to avoid a season sweep as the welcome the Stanley Cup Champion Panthers to UBS Arena on Sunday.

The Panthers own a pair of 6-3 wins over the Isles this season, rallying from 3-0 down to win October 26th at UBS Arena, and stopping the Isles' seven-game winning streak on February 2nd. Spencer Knight, now with Chicago, was in goal for both games. 

The Isles are 3-6-2 in the last 11 games against the Cats, including 1-2-2 at UBS Arena.
